Mastering the spin game has become crucial to improving as a pickleball player spin adds a skill Gap that just wasn't there before and it's definitely helped Elevate the game to a more competitive standard not only can you use spin to control deeper ground strokes and push your opponent back in the court but low dipping spinny passing.

Shots have become so important to dig yourself out of tricky situations when your opponent comes to the net when gritty top Sheets first came out they basically revolutionized the game Spin is now much much easier to generate than it was before and the spintech has basically only improved since brands are now focusing a large part of their r d.

On optimizing a paddle Spin and the game is adapting just as quick there are some amazing options on the market right now so we figured we'd give you our top five pickleball paddles for spin foreign obviously we're only going to cover the paddles we carry at rackets and Runners.

So if you think there's a paddle missing from this list that might be why and let us know in the comment section which are your favorite paddles for spin generation also please remember to like the video and subscribe to our brand new rackets and Runners pickleball Channel we're moving our pickleball operations to here from now on and if you'd like to.

Buy any of these paddles go check them out at racketsandrunners.ca so at first I was thinking of doing this list randomly but I do think there is actually a pretty clear order to this list so without further Ado let's get into number five the carbon 113 millimeter now we all know the controversy that has surrounded this.

Poor brand for the last two years now but don't worry they may have had to change the recipe but the end product is almost as spin friendly as they were before hopefully they don't get flagged for me saying that so if you don't know Carbon the brand was one of the carbon top sheet pioneers and the original top sheet that we're using was one of the.

Most gritty that I've ever seen but I guess it was technically too gritty because that paddle got banned I just love when we launch Innovation and the resulting paddle had a slightly more toned down version of that original top sheet really that only took away from a tiny bit of its spin potential and honestly I kind of prefer the new style.

Of grit they went for here because on the previous version the grit went away very quickly that made for a pretty stark playability contrast between a new and used original carbon paddle which just isn't the case anymore on the legal ones the carbon one 13 millimeter is super super spin friendly the top sheet does a really good job of producing tons.

Of Spin and the thinner profile on the 13 millimeter one makes it quite quick through the air so you can generate Tons of paddlehead Speed the only slight limitation I had with this paddle and this kind of stops it from breaking into the top three at least for me is that it's just a little too light it could do with a little bit more weight in the.

Head here which would just help put a little bit more mass behind the ball and generate a little bit more force and spin as many of you know that can easily be corrected with a bit of lead tape though so the carbon one is basically one of the best platform paddles on the market right now at number four you'll notice this paddle lacks something all.

The other paddles on this list have and that's because the cx11e power 8.5 or whatever it's called doesn't have a gritty top sheet the fact that it still comes in so high on this list without a gritty top sheet should prove to everyone that you don't need a gritty top sheet to be elite in spin generation yes it can definitely help but it's not.

The be-all and end-all and I'm honestly very passionate about that until very recently gearbox hadn't really added grit to their top end paddles and yet most of their elongated options were Elite for spin that's because they have pretty much every other ingredient necessary to be good for spin starting with aerodynamics because the paddle is.

So thin at 11 millimeters and it's edgeless it's insanely quick through the air it basically slices through the swing like a foil it's the quickest eight and a half ounce paddle on the market today and that extra speed translates to extra force on the ball at impact which means more spin there's another reason though why gearbox.

Paddles are so spin friendly and that's because thinner paddles like this make the ball lose less energy on impact that energy retention is most noticeable for power but it also applies to spin and that's just another reason why the cx11e is so spin friendly all right let's move on to number three the pro drive the more I play with this paddle the more I.

Appreciate its totally unique playability and feel and I really can't wait for this brand to keep developing what makes the drive so unique is that it's one of the thickest paddles out there it's 19 millimeters thick but it provides energy return that is still topped here and honestly more along the lines of a 12 or 13 millimeter paddle so.

How do they accomplish that well Pro Drive uses a Kevlar layer in the core they're the only brand to use that material and it feels significantly more crisp than any of the more traditional honeycomb cores out there what really pushes it to the top of the spin game is that that thick 19 millimeter core gives it something that no thin paddle will.

Ever be able to provide and that's a ton of mass behind the ball when you combine that thick mass in the paddle's face with that crisp response of a thinner paddle you get so much pop and spin that it honestly takes a little bit of time to get used to because it feels so different once you do get used to it though you got a beast on your hands on.

Top of all that literally on top of all that because I'm about to talk about the top sheet but the top sheet is one of the grittiest and most durable carbon top sheets I've ever used so that complements the rest of the racket spin profile to a t Okay so the next two paddles on this list are kind of in their own Elite spin pedestal and.

Honestly separating between the two of them was really tough but you got to do what you got to do and at number two you got the Ben Johns Hyperion CFS 16 millimeter I put this one at number two kind of with a heavy heart because to me it's such an insanely good paddle that not putting it number one in any category it was really tough honestly in.

Pretty much every other playability characteristic I think it's better than number one on this list but I do think it's marginally worse in terms of spin production worse is definitely not a word I ever thought I would associate with anything benjons related by the way very weird anyways the core might be a pretty thick 16 millimeters but if.

Provide such fantastic feel and energy return that it's by far the most reactive thick paddle I've ever used I'm not going to pretend to know how Yola has accomplished this but you still get the feel and ball pocketing of some thicker paddles but then the ball shoots out with so much force it almost feels like there's some sort of springy.

Technology going on in there I really don't know how they've done that as you can imagine that springy Poppy feel gives it a ton of Spin and then you've got probably the best carbon top sheet on the market if it's not the best it's definitely the most well-rounded it might not be the grittiest top sheet right out of the box but it's extremely.

Durable and doesn't lose much texture over time so in terms of long run spin potential and especially consistency it's probably the best out there or maybe just second to number one alright so the Selkirk Vanguard Power air Invicta is the king of spin simple as that it's actually pretty wild that the Ben Jones is this close in spin.

Potential because it is so much thicker but that's just because Yola are doing some crazy physics-defying r d in that lab still you can only defy physics for so long and the fact fact of the matter is the Vanguard Power air paddles are just too thin too responsive and too quick through the air to be dethroned the Invicta is by far the fastest.

Elongated paddle I've ever used basically take everything that was quick about the cx11e at a massive aerodynamic feature to it and you've got the swing speed of the power air Invicta it's so fast that it definitely has a steep learning curve and it takes some time to get used to the swing speed but when you do all those aerodynamic benefits that I.

Mentioned earlier basically are just cranked up to the max out of all the power air paddles the Invicta is the most spin friendly because it's the longest now that technically makes it marginally more difficult to bring through contact but it also gives it a higher ceiling for pace and for spin generation the top sheet might not be.

The grittiest out there but it's got plenty of texture that's basically just the cherry on the cake of an already insanely spinny paddle so there you have it the five most spin friendly paddles on the market today at least from the ones we carry hopefully you like the video and look forward to plenty of more content coming out on this channel in.

The very near future in the meantime you can go check out any of these paddles in store or online at racketsonrunners.ca
