Thanks for tuning in to my YouTube channel pickleball pick apart my name is Rory and if you watch my YouTube channel you know that I go on YouTube I select matches that are posted on YouTube and I critique the play of the players this pickleball matchup is a women's doubles recreational match at the 4.0 level 4.0 is the level these women claim to be at.

But are they really 4.0 pickleball players watch for yourself and decide before I get started a big shout out to Cliff at Cliff pickleball he has a YouTube channel yes it is Cliff pickleball you will find matches and Cliff also gives instruction he is a very very good pickleball player and you can probably learn a lot from watching.

His channel so check it out again it's Cliff pickleball so let's go here are the players I'm going to call this player right here the woman in the red top the striped woman the lady in black and the lady in the pink shirt so let's go ahead get started and see if these women are truly 4.0 players.

Nice deep sir nice return nope all right a little dink into the kitchen that the lady in Black was just not able to get back to so nice drop by the woman in the striped shirt foreign so far is about six or seven perhaps eight attempts to either hit a third.

Shot drop or a reset and none of these ladies were able to so let me make it very clear that in order to be a 4.0 player this is according to USA pickleball a player must understand and be able to do a block or reset volley they also must be able to hit either a third shot drop or a third.

Shot drive so far none of these players have been successful at doing it so let me stop the video right here and look at this woman's paddle position here's what I'm thinking I am thinking these four ladies are all tennis players and very good tennis players who have transitioned over to playing pickleball.

Maybe they're 3.5 tennis players maybe they're 4.0 tennis players and because they may be 4.0 tennis players and they are now on a pickleball court they are assuming they are 4.0 pickleball players it's very obvious to me that this serve with where her paddle is is a tennis sir there is no doubt that pickleball.

Players do serve in this manner but there are not very many pickleball players that I see who whose paddle ends up in this position it's either more out front or it's lower but never really up here almost to the back of her neck that is definitely a tennis serve so again I'm assuming these ladies are very very good tennis players and because they are.

They have rated themselves as 4.0 pickleball players keep in mind pickleball is not tennis so let's see what happens here foreign I don't know what this is that is not a 4.0 pickleball shot neither is that that is just not good she should have tried to reset this ball.

Into the kitchen so far she has not shown she has the ability to do so again kind of poached that ball with her backhand from this woman who was back here and I know I understand that this woman is defending but she is not making any effort to get to the non-volley zone and that is because these balls are.

Being hit so high that they are almost defenseless now there is no reason that this team in the black and pink should lose this point this woman was stuck back here unfortunately the woman in black hit the ball very shallow allowing this woman to come up and perhaps get to the non-volley zone so a.

Huge mistake by the woman in black she should have kept this player at the Baseline a nice get that's all she could really do with it so actually it ended up working for the lady right here in the black um even though I think she made the wrong.

Move she's trying a third shot drop not able to do it if he was able to reset that shot right there nice job try to third shot drive right there but just hit it into the net okay that's just a horrible shot that is.

Not what a 4.0 level player would do and she just hit it right there into This Woman's put away Zone let's see if she does great get by her but again that's kind of a defensive shot right there which you can't blame the lady in Black for hitting and the point is over.

So again what set that whole thing up was a very very very poor shot by the lady in the pink shirt she just does not have the ability to hit a third shot drop so issue a 4.0 player I would say no she is not she does not meet the requirement so now we have to determine if the other three players are foreign.

This lady had the opportunity to keep this woman back because she was falling back after she returned that shot she did not she is giving this player the opportunity to reset the point but as I mentioned before they're having a difficult time doing that she is falling away and that is a lob.

Followed by another law another defensive LOB now get back to the kitchen and she's not able to another lob another defensive LOB and I think that ball hit the top of her paddle and went out either that or it hit the tape and went out I'm really not sure.

But they had to do some defensive lives to try to get back into the non-volley zone and they never got up to it okay so this lady right here is hitting another shot that should be put away because she is incapable of hitting a third shot drop so not only do I believe she is not a 4.0 player she is also not a 3.5 player because in order to be a 3.5.

Player the player must be able to hit a third shot drop foreign well I did go over the net I think it hit the tape and went over okay she gonna hit a third shot drop right here or a third shot Drive nope she hit it straight up into the put away Zone.

This lady right here in the striped shirt I'm sure she's an excellent tennis player but she is not a 4.0 pickleball player which he just put that shot away all set up because the woman in the striped shirt did not hit a third shot drop let me say something about the woman in.

The striped shirt since I said something negative about her she's a very very good athlete I mean she's hitting a very deep return here she has good speed she gets up to the non-volley zone and she's going to have her feet set and ready for this return but follow before the ball gets to her so an excellent play by the woman in the striped shirt she is very.

Athletic foreign that was a very nice job by the lady in black and let's go again and see what happens here she is on the defense right here the ball is hit to her and she is able to reset this ball almost into the kitchen and she hits a drive right there right at this lady so this lady almost.

Got it into the non-volley Zone not a bad reset and then she came with the drive right at this woman so an excellent play by The Woman in Black thank you and another unforced error by the woman in the red shirt so that's about two or three or four unforced Errors By her is she a 4.0 player I do not believe she is.

and an unforced error by the lady in the Striped outfit okay that's that's just a 3.0 level shot right here that should be put away yes it was get out of the Court sir and another unforced error by the woman.

In the red shirt can she do it no she can't the point is over yeah absolutely poor shot selection that's not gonna work nice put away by the lady in the striped shirt it's obvious that the women right here are winning.

Um even though they have made some unforced errors this team right here I think has made more and the player in the pink is just hitting too many shots too high in the air so this team really does not have a very good chance of winning as long as this team continues to hit the ball at this player in pink.

Okay that was an excellent shot by the lady in black she has some pickleball skills she was able to hit that into the kitchen foreign excellent shot this woman here cannot do it that's a good point just uh a little.

Unforced error by The Woman in Black okay nice and the ball was out she cannot believe she hit that ball out nice nice again so good job by her very good job out of the lady in red she hit two shots right over the net and at this player's feet excellent play by her I'm not sure why she was not doing that.

Earlier in the game but she was able to do that for that point all right nice return this lady is getting stuck back here I believe let's see if she can reset the ball no can she do it now no can she do it now no can she do it now no can she do it now no can she do.

It now and she's trying to lie this time in another LOB yeah there was absolutely no way that this team right here was going to win this point because she was stuck back here this team did a good job of keeping her back and she just did not have the capability of resetting that ball I think she tried what six times a 4.0.

Level player will be able to reset that ball she was not able to so that disqualifies her from being a 4.0 player thank you well she tried twice to reset it she did not so she did a lob and ended up losing the point and an unforced error to be a 4.0 level player you have to make minimal unforest.

Errors I haven't counted these but if I went to go back and count them there are probably at least 20 in this game like that one right there foreign good for her nice quick hands and that was a great shot that's kind of like a ping pong.

Shot a backhand flip right into the court now let me be very clear these ladies have ability they are athletic again I think they are tennis players but they just are not at the 4.0 level they could beat a lot of teams at the 3.0 level I believe but if they were actually a play.

A team that is truly a 4.0 team neither of these teams would stand much of a chance of winning so let's watch a few more shots and then I'll uh wrap things up maybe they'll get a little bit better she tried to drop it just could not again I'm very impressed with the lady in the Striped outfit.

She is an excellent athlete she has good movement she has great feet and you see that backhand right there she might have hit that one out but her backhand that is a tennis shot of course so I'd like to see her on the tennis court and see her ability on the tennis court I'm sure it's very very good another unforest error.

Foreign these are just mistakes that 4.0 players do not make point after point after point great shot backhand tennis play all the way the lady here in the striped shirt could just hit a third shot drop or a reset she may qualify as a 4.0 player because.

She has a great serve she's very athletic she has a very nice backhand she just cannot reset the ball or hit a third shot drop look at this very nice by her again she's great on the defense great backhand she just needs to learn how to do a third shot or a reset she tried it right there and it failed.

And the lady in the black made an unforest error I said there were 20 unforced eras at least in this game there may be 30. you can do it oh nice shot and that's the game congratulations to the team in the strength shirt and the red shirt so there you have it players claiming to be.
